A private institution, the Son Marroig House Museum in the municipality of Deià, in Mallorca, was created in 1927 with a view to preserving, presenting and promoting the emblematic figure of Archduke Luis Salvador.

It features drawings, books, his personal belongings and his best written work on our islands, “Die Balearen”.

On its walls hang canvases of Joaquín Mir, Antonio Ribas Oliver, Antonio Ribas Prats, Bauzá, Erwin Hubert, Pizá, etc. In its showcases we can find old Phoenician collars and objects as well as Greek and Roman ceramics. A Virgin of alabaster from the 13th century, Roman amphoras, Mallorcan antique furniture, Greek statuettes and Mallorcan fabrics make up the great museum hall.

Particularly noteworthy is the 16th century square tower, where its wide walls take us back to the times of the Moorish pirates. Inside, one can appreciate a 17th century majestic bed and the oil mill, where the highly-valued liquid was extracted from thousand-year-old olive trees.
