raco

Es Racó de s’Arena is situated at 13 kilometres from Campos. It is a quiet little sandy area of fine golden sand with rocks, with no service or village in the vicinity, and near the Club Náutico s’Estanyol de Migjorn, at 0,1 nautical miles, from where it can be reached on foot between the surrounding vegetation.

This coastal corner is sheltered from the climatic harshness by Punta Plana and in front of its coast there is islote de s’Estanyol. Nevertheless, es Racó de s’Arena is good for anchoring.

A vast part of this beach is covered by a dry posidonia meadow. Only the western part has some small sandy areas that remind us the former presence of dunes.

You will find machine gun emplacements of the Civil War and escars (typical majorcan dry docs where the fishers keep their fishing equipment) along the coast.

The place is not very crowded, most of the visitors are residents of the village of s’Estanyol. The accessibility by car is easy, although there is no parking area next to this beach for private cars, nor a bus that reaches this place.

You are recommended to visit, if you are allowed to do so, the private possessió of s’Estalella (280 hectares of extension), declared Área Natural de Especial Interés by the Parliament de les Illes Balears, which includes one of the 85 towers that defended this coast against the incursions of the Moors 500 years ago.
