Banyalbufar,  a  municipality  located  in  the  south-western part  of  the  Serra  de  Tramuntana mountain range, has a population of  around  500.  

Its  landscape  is characterised  by  the  surrounding mountains,  its  spectacular  agricultural terraces and steep coast.

The origins of Banyalbufar have been traced back to the farmhouse erected in the 10th century under the name Banyalbahar, a Moslem place name that means “built next to the sea”.

Traditionally dedicated to cattle raising,  shing  and  agriculture, this  house  was  particularly  noteworthy due to the production of cluster  tomatoes  and  wine  from Malvasía.  It  is  currently  under renovation.

Worth highlighting are the “Torre des Verger” tower, the old “Sa Baronía”  palace  with  its  interior courtyard and a 17th-century defence tower.
