Ceramic art has a long tradition on the Balearic Islands, and Ceràmiques Mallorca is nowadays one of its biggest proponents.
It was founded back in 1947 under the leadership of Pere Bennàsar Montserrat becoming the first factory for decorative ceramic products of its time. More than half a century later, Francisca Bennàsar, one of the daughters of the company’s founder, is taking the baton and beginning a new era where tradition and innovation go hand in hand.
Ceràmiques Mallorca is located in Felanitx, on top of the land of the ancient Tanca d’en Romaguera. In the company’s complex, which is made up of a store and a large factory where 30 employees come to work during times of plenty, the complete artistic process takes place, from when the piece is nothing more than liquid clay, to when the decoration is applied to it that transforms it into a unique object, and it is offered to the general public.

Whereas production has been oriented toward ornamental ceramics thus far, in the future, a utilitarian approach to the pieces will gain in momentum. Bowls, jugs, plates, trays, cans, glasses, vases, salad bowls, tureens, boxes, chocolate boxes or ashtrays - just a small sample of Ceràmiques Mallorca’s produce - become fully functional without their designs losing an iota of the originality that distinguishes them.
The company has a large number of foreign clients, primarily in Northern Europe, which has brought the company’s fame beyond our narrow local borders. This was only possible thanks to many years of experience and professionalism in producing ceramics. Looking to the immediate future, Ceràmiques Mallorca is planning an important reform that will centralize the store and the workshop in the same space, which will increase the appeal of bringing the client closer to the distinct phases of the creative process.
