Es Verger is a family-owned company which has been producing high-quality wine and oil since 2001.

It produces four types of wine: three red ones: Ses Marjades, Els Rojals and Pinot Noir, and one sweet white wine, Fita del Ram.

For making Ses Marjades, grapes of the varieties Manto Negro Merlot and Cabernet are being used. Els Rojals, however, is being created with 'Cabernet' and 'Merlot' grapes. The origin of the Pinot Noir is, of course, the fruit of the same name, whereas the Fita del Ram is being pressed out of a variety called 'Viognier'.

As far as the gourmet oil goes, all olives are harvested by hand and pressed the same day. On the orchards three varieties of olives are grown: Arbequina, Mallorquina and Picual. Es Verger olive oil is, by the way, the only ecologically grown olive oil which bears the certificate of origin 'Oli de Mallorca'.

Location

The estate s'Hort des Verger is located four kilometres from the village of Esporles, in a remote and beautiful region of the Tramontana mountain range. It comprises seven hectares of olive groves and three hectares of vineyards. Both the olive- and wineproduction follow the strict rules of ecological agriculture. On top of that, only the very best olives and grapes are being selected, which leads to very high quality standards by keeping output levels low: annual production is 15.000 litres of wine and about 3.000 litres of gourmet oil.

The site manager is Mr. Jaume Fullana. The products are sold directly on the estate and also through some gourmet shops. Both product lines are being marketed mainly on Mallorca, nevertheless 25% of the output is being exported to Germany and Switzerland. The wine-cellar can be visited all year round, but please arrange for a date beforehand.

Awards

This Mallorcan company is a regular guest at some of Europe's most important trade fairs for ecological products, where it has been granted some outstanding prizes, like the Biofac Award in Nuremberg and the Biocórdoba Prize. Their products have also been honoured on other trade shows, like Brussel's Concours Mondial and the Salón Internacional de Madrid.

During the first ten years of the company's history, it has been able to achieve some outstanding awards, that have confirmed and publicised the high quality of its wines and oil far beyond Mallorca. In 2011, for example, the Ses Marjades wine of 2006 was awarded the silver medal at the Nuremberg trade fair, one of the best-known of its kind all over the world. The year before, the renowned German magazine 'Der Feinschmecker' (The Gourmet) listed the Es Verger olive oil among the top 250 worldwide.
