Mallorca boasts an abundance of sundials, many churches, monasteries, and estates still preserve them, the oldest date back to roman times and represent an important ethnographic heritage.

Four sundials have been refurbished; you can find these in Galtazó and Raixa and in the churches in Galilea and Alaró. There are about 600 spread out over the whole island.

These sundials are small works of art; the one in Galtazó is made from lime and set with pebbles. The dials in Raixa and Alaró date back to the 18th century. This last one has the hour lines and numbers painted on it. The two in the Galilea church are etched in stone.
